The Dragon arrived in fifth place on the race to the Jade Emperor’s party, which was a surprise as he easily could have flown in faster than everybody else. However, while he was en route to the party, he came across a drought struck village that needed assistance. Rather than proceeding to the party, the Dragon made rain for the village, ending their drudge once and for all. This story gives great insight into the character of Dragons, and you can see why they are so highly respected in China. In fact, the stature of Dragons is so high that Chinese emperors were considered to be reincarnations of the animal. Dragons belong to the Earthly Branch chén, and they are connected with the morning hours of seven to nine. The most recent years of the Dragon were 2012 and 2000, and the next is 2024.
Personality and characteristics
Dragons are known to help people, and they command great respect. They function well on their own and are very powerful, but they still seek the help and comfort that others provide, wanting to forge strong relationships that are lasting and meaningful. They are responsible and honest, and their values help them to achieve their ambitions. They believe in themselves and work hard, and these traits are reflected in how people see them.
Dragons are an excellent match for Roosters, who are always there for Dragons in difficult times. Monkeys and Dragons share a mindset that allows them to think outside the box, making them good collaborators. Dragons like that they can count on Rats, and they also like how Rats have a gift for making them laugh. Dragons and Dogs are a poor match, as both parties are suspicious of each other and cannot see eye to eye. Despite having things in common, Dragons and Rabbits have many personality clashes that get in the way of their relationships. Surprisingly, Dragons can have difficulty getting along with other Dragons, as their headstrong nature can make them opposed to each other.
Dragons tend to be healthy, and they rarely get small sicknesses, so if they do get sick, you know it is not something to take lightly. They often work so hard that they neglect their health and don’t get proper rest, which allows what should have been something small to turn into a larger problem. Their digestive and circulatory systems are both in need of special attention, and their urinary system should be given extra care as well as they age. Their hard focus at work can affect their mental health as they often lose sleep over their projects. Dragons would do well to relax, reconnect with nature, and not let their work consume them as much as it does.
Dragons excel at jobs that are fast paced and require great mental stimulation. They also do well in groups, as on their own they can doubt themselves, and their ability to think ahead and plan everything out makes them a valuable asset to a team. They work extremely hard to accomplish their goals, though this means they sometimes focus more on their work than on their personal lives. Careers that work well for them are politics and collaborative arts, which play into their strengths.
