It was tenth to the Jade Emperor’s party, having come at the same time as the Monkey and Dog but being placed after the Monkey as the Monkey had arrived to help a god fight evil spirits first. The Rooster is known in China to ward off evil spirits, and this was once taken so seriously that men would pledge allegiance to each other by drinking rooster blood mixed with wine after giving an oath to the heavens. The most recent years of the Rooster were 2017 and 2005, and the next is 2029.

Personality and characteristics

Roosters are known to be strong, but that does not mean they are completely independent. They like to have people close to them give them love and support. Family is important to them, and they want many people to be in their circle. Despite this highly personable side to them, they are very work oriented. Roosters want everything they do to be just right, and they are highly critical of themselves and others. They do not treat what they do frivolously, and they are direct and clear when performing their work and other deeds. It is unlikely they will bail from something, no matter how hard it is, and when challenged they will surprise people around them as they transform into a force to be reckoned with.

Roosters are a great match with Dragons as they are both high achievers and can provide support for the other. Snakes and Roosters are both ambitious and they have great conversations about their goals. Oxen have satisfying relationships with Roosters, as their straightforward demeanors work well with each other.
